Half Price will take everything you bring in, if there's one of those down by you. And for the novels, I want to start one of those free exchange bookshelves in the lobby of the Oasis (far from our actual library so people don't get ideas...) and will take books if you would like to send them. That might be expensive tho.

Ha, beat me to iot. Bookmooch is awesome. Clears space so you can get more books!

Last year, I gave a way twelve file boxes full of books, but somehow, I still don't have any room. The stuff from our last trip to Moe's is actually at a pile under my feet because I have nowhere to put them.

On the plus side, the school was going to throw away a perfectly good library cart that's now all mine..

Don't get rid of the esoteric books. I'm working on a project to construct a Bay Area lending library and reading room for esoteric books. If you need them off your hands sooner rather than later, let me know.

    All right, Jonathan. :-)

You're doing that from San Diego?

    Shellay,
Half Price Books doesn't buy everything you bring in. They do buy some things and usually allow you to leave the rest for free; I think they recycle them.

    Al,
    Some ideas:
Maybe you could donate the books to prisoners or prison libraries?

Jonathan's esoteric reading room idea sounds great!

You can also try Moe's and Pegasus. Another idea is try to all of the Pegasus and Half Price locations (they have different buyers for each location.) Berkeley has at least 2 of each (Solano and Shattuck.)

How about doctor's reading rooms, homeless shelters, or better yet, inner city high school libraries...

Actually, I bet some college libraries in the area would take these books, especially if you delivered them...there are so many establishments of learning in the Oakland Area.

Yeah, I've spoken to people at Pegasus about this recently (their book buying policies).

I plan on donating books to Jonathan's reading room when he gets it going though.
